투자유치에 있어서, 선행변수, 메커니즘 그리고 성과와의 관계: 중국 도시를대상으로 한 실증분석 = The Relationship among Antecedents, Mechanisms, and Performance in Inward Foreign Direct Investment: Based on Empirical Test on Chinese Cities

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 중국을 대상으로 투자촉진기관(IPA)의 투자촉진메커니즘(IPM)을 분석하고자 하였으며,특히 IPA의 내부 프로세스에 초점을 두었다. 광대한 중국에서는 각 지역 도시별로 IPA의 특성이 상이하다고 판단되므로, 본 연구는 102개 중국 도시를 대상으로 도시 수준의 분석을 수행하였다. 이러한 도시수준의 분석은 국가수준의 분석에 기반을 둔 기존 실증연구와 차이를 발견할 수 있을 것이다. 즉, 본 연구는 도시의 투자촉진 활동 및 투자환경 등에 영향을 주는 지역 특성의 요소에 초점을 두고외국인직접투자의 결정요소를 실증연구로 수행하였다는 공헌이 있다. 또한 본 연구는 (학습·조정·평가 메커니즘이라는) IPA의 내부 메커니즘의 관점에서, 투자촉진의 종합적 모델을 구축해 보려고 시도했다. 실증분석 결과, IPM이 선행변수(IPA 리더, IPA 환경, IPA 자원 등)와 성과 사이에 매개역할을 한다는 중요한 사실을 발견하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper analyzes distinctive investment promotion mechanisms (IPMs) of the investmentpromotion agency (IPA) in China, with particularly attention to the internal process of IPA. Due tothe heterogeneity of IPAs within China, this paper adopts a city-level unit of analysis, comprisingof 102 Chinese cities. The city-level analysis allows us to fill the gaps in the existing empiricalbased on a country-level analysis. This paper contributes to the existing empirical studies ondeterminants of Inward Foreign Direct Investment (IFDI) by employing the regional-specificcontextual factors influencing city’s investment stimulation, investment stimulation activities,investment environment, and others. Above all things, this paper have attempted to build up acomprehensive model of investment promotion in light of the internal mechanisms of IPA - learning,coordinating and evaluating mechanism. The key finding showed that IPMs played the moderatingrole between the antecedents (i.e., IPA leader, IPA environment, IPA resource) and the performanceof IFDI in the context of China.
