      The initial lighting was used simply to light up dark spaces, as the technology
      evolved rapidly, the brightness of the lights has been significantly improved.
      Nowadays, rather, the issue of light pollution is raised. In 2011, as a starting
      point, the light pollution self-governing regulations by local government is
      gradually increasing. At present, all local governments are enacting self-governing - 93 -
      laws. In the case of LED lighting, there is no form restrictions, this enables the
      use of various types and space. There is a need for more specific usage guides than
      respectively environmental use.
      Among them, lighting demand of night walks inevitably occur, these lights make
      pedestrians safer at night. However, these artificial lights are causing various
      damages to light pollution. So I think you need suggestions on the proposed
      pedestrian environment in accordance with the appropriate light pedestrian
      environment.
      Thus, the purpose of this study is to suggest a safe and comfortable environment and
      level of illumination using handrail lighting in the pedestrian environment. To this
      end, it distinguishes suitable lighting methods by walking environment. Among them,
      the results of various installation methods in handrail lighting environment are
      simulated. It also proposes the appropriate product performance and installation
      methods and level of illumination that can utilize them for future reference
      implementation handrail lighting conditions.
      The scope of this study is the spatial scope of the night pedestrian path using
      handrail lighting, which is one of the elements that makes up the pedestrian space,
      based on the review of previous studies and case studies. In addition, it proposes
      suitable LED lighting performance proposals and optimized pedestrian illumination and
      walking environment proposals. The conclusion obtained through this is as follows.
      First, the optimized specification could be confirmed by the handrail lighting in the
      walking environment. Through vertical plane analysis, it was confirmed that the most
      suitable light distribution was 60 degrees and the irradiation angle was 35 degrees.- 94 -
      Second, in residential and commercial areas, one-way and central survey handrail
      types were found to be most suitable. The horizontal illumination criterion was
      satisfied at a distance of 1m between the lights. In the case of the bidirectional
      cross handrail lighting method, it was confirmed that it is suitable for commercial
      area at the distance of 2m.
      Third, it was confirmed that the vertical pedestrian illumination of 5 ~ 10lx was
      satisfied even in the handrail lighting environment. Although the height of the
      lighting was low as 1m, it was confirmed that the vertical illumination of 1.5m
      height satisfies the criterion.
      This study is a study on the illumination using handrail lighting in pedestrian
      environment and defines the basic specifications of lighting to prevent light
      pollution. In addition, the types of handrails and lighting intervals satisfying
      horizontal illumination were specified, and simulations confirmed that the vertical
      illumination of pedestrians could be satisfied through handrail lighting. With these
      results could be considered guidelines on the future use the handrail lighting.
