체육사 : 안자산의 체육사 연구 = A Study of the History of Physical Education by Ja-san An

국문 초록 (Abstract)

안자산의 일생은 근대사의 불운과 함께 한 삶이라고 할 수 있다. 그의 관심 분야는 거의 모든 분야를 포괄적으로 망라한 것이었으며 당대 제일급이었다. 이 글에서 우리는 <체육사>분야가 안자산의 국학 가운데 가장 기초적이고 근원적인 부분에 자리한다는 것을 알 수 있었다.우리는 가장 이른 시기에 체육사 분야의 저술 한 권을 가질 수 있었다. 그것은 지금까지도 읽을 수 있는 안자산의 『조선무사영웅전』(1940)인데, 그 외 체육과 관련된 그의 논설들을 분석하여 본 결과 단순히 한 두번 언급한 수준이 아니라 <안자산 체육사>라고 드높일 수 밖에 없는 점이 발견된다. 그것은 그의 국학 연구에 대한 기본 바탕이 되는 바가 문무의 정반합이라는 정신, 즉 역사나 문학에서나 체육에 대해서나 모두 이 정신을 근간으로 삼았기 때문이다.보다 구체적으로, 현재 우리에게도 의미있게 다가오는 점(현대적 의의)이 많은데, 그 이유로는 안자산의 독특한 역사 인식과 사상이었다고 할 수 있다. 단적인 일례로 외래 사상에 일방적으로 사로 잡히지 않고 전통과의 융합 관계를 모색하는 가운데 새로운 발전의 논리를 추구하는 사상가의 모습을 보여주고 있는 점이 그렇다. 체육에 대한 관심도 거의 모두 고대사에 집중되어 있다. 이는 당시 잘못된 풍조인 지식인의 패배의식을 질타하고 이를 극복하려는 실천적인 노력이 드러난 것이라고 할 수 있다. 당대의 체육과 위생에 대한 언급도 물론 빠진 것은 아니다.이 글은 이상과 같이 가장 이른 시기의 체육사인 안자산의 체육사에 대한 탐구의 첫걸음을 비로소 여기서 내디뎠다고 생각한다. 1920-40년대의 한 국학자의 기록이 우리 체육사를 풍부하게 하는데 한몫 했다고 볼 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The life of Ja-san An was ill-fated. He was interested in many discipline areas and one of the most learned men of his time. In this article, it was identified that the history of physical education was the foundation and the beginning of his national literature.A book in the field of the history of physical education was written at the very beginning of the Korean modern physical education. The title of the book was 朝鮮武士英雄傳(the lives of heroic warriors in in the Cho-sun), which is still worth reading in contemporary context and was written by Ja-san An. On the basis of analysis of the book and other writings related to physical education, it is suggested that the book is a valuable book, because the concept of thesis-antithesis-synthesis of civil and military was the foundation of his writings about history, literature, and physical education, which was the basic of his national literature.His unique cognitions and thoughts provide the new meanings to the modern physical education. As an example, he explored the new principles of development in pursuit of the amalgamation with tradition rather than being captured by foreign ideas. His intersting in the field of physical education centered around ancient history, which gives a scolding for defeatism spreaded in the intellectuals in his time. In addition, physical education and hygiene were included in his writing.This paper initiated the first step of inquiry into the history of physical education by Ja-san An that is earliest in the history of physical education. As one of the outstanding historian in the field of physical education, he was one of the most potent influences to enlarge the field of the history of physical education.
