절망에 저항하는 이육사의 시 -시 『절정(絶頂)』 『광야(曠野)』 『꽃』을 중심으로- = Lee Yuksa`s Poetry of Resisting Despair -Focusing on His Poems, "Climax," "Wilderness" & "Flower"-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 시 『絶頂』과 『曠野』 『꽃』을 중심으로 이육사 시에 나타난 절망과 극복 양상을 살펴보고, 저항시인으로서 ‘저항’의 의미를 새롭게 해석함을 목적으로 한다. 2장에서는 절망의 양상을 가늠했다. 시 『절정』은 비극적 현실 앞에서 자신의 무력함을 깨달으며 절망하고 탄식하는 노래다. 이육사는 ‘강철로 된 무지개’라는 이미지를 통해 그 겨울이 영원히 끝나지 않을 것임을 토로했다. 강철로 된 무지개는 ‘흰 무지개’이며, 사라지지 않는 절망을 상징한다. 이육사 시에서 절망의 극복 양상은 기다리기와 꿈꾸기로 나타난다. 3장에서는 절망을 기다림으로 바꾼 양상을 살펴봤다. 시 『광야』에서 ‘千古의 시간 뒤’에 초인이 온다는 것은 절망의 다른 표현이다. 시인은 천년이나 되는 기다림의 무한 시간을 ‘가난한 노래의 씨’를 뿌림으로써 견디고자 했다. 독립운동가로서 이육사는 일제에 저항했지만, 시인으로서 이육사는 초인을 기다리는 시를 씀으로써 자신의 절망에 저항했다. 4장에서는 꿈꾸기의 양상을 살펴봤다. 시 『꽃』은 기다림조차 허락되지 않는 극한의 상황에서 꿈꾸기로 절망을 극복한 시다. 그는 한 무리의 사람들이 나비처럼 꽃향기에 취하는 세상을 꿈꾸고, 그들의 회상 속에서 자신이 꽃의 씨앗을 뿌린 사람으로 기억되길 염원하며 절망을 이겨내고자 했다. 한 시인이 저항시인으로 불릴 수 있는 이유는 그가 저항했기 때문이 아니라 ‘저항하는 시’를 썼기 때문이어야 한다. 이육사는 처절하게 절망하고, 그 절망에 저항하는 시를 썼다. 그가 저항한 대상은 바로 자신의 절망이었다. 불굴의 독립투사라는 이육사의 전기적 사실에 압도되어 그의 시에 나타난 절망의 깊이를 간과해서는 안 될 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to examine the aspects of despair and its overcomin g in Lee Yuksa’s poetry with a focus on “Climax,” “Wilderness” and “Fl ower,” and to identify the meaning of resistance as a “poete resistant.” Chapter Two outlines the aspects of despair. The poem, “Climax,” is a song in which the persona realizes his weakness in front of tragic rea lity, feels despair and laments over it. In this poem, Lee Yuksa fears th at winter will never end with the imagery of ‘a rainbow made of steel,’ which is a white rainbow and symbolizes despair that lasts forever. In Lee Yuksa’s poetry, the aspects of overcoming despair are represen ted in the forms of waiting and dreaming. Chapter Three deals with ho w despair turns into waiting. In the poem, “Wilderness,” the phrase that a superhuman will com in ‘one thousand years’ is just another expressio n of despair. The poet tries to endure the indefinite time of one thousan d years by sowing ‘the seeds for poor songs.’ That is, Lee Yuksa as a resistant stands up against the colonial domination, but as a poet he resi sts his own despair by writing about waiting for a superhuman to come back. Chapter Four examines the aspects of dreaming. The poem, “Flower,” is about dreaming and overcoming despair in the extreme situation whic h never allows waiting. He dreams of a world in which a group of peop le is carried away by the scents of flowers like a butterfly, and he tries to overcome despair, wishing to be remembered as a person who sows seeds of flowers. The reason a poet is called “poete resistant” is not that he does resis t, but that he writes ‘poems that resist.’ Lee Youksa experiences thorou gh despair and writes poems that resist the despair. That is, the object of his resistance is his own despair. We should not neglect the depth of despair in his poems, overwhelmed by the fact that Yo Youksa is an in dependence fighter with an iron despair.
