The purpose of this study is to suggest a direction for political education suitable for digital convergence circumstances. Existing political education could not fully consider the new type of political participation in digital convergence circumstances which also caused changes in political structure. Digital convergence circumstances not only accomplished mere technological development, but also made changes in the aspects of political participation and political structure. Citizens who are connected through networks make active use of social medias and social network services to build social networks and have political communications lively. Citizens in digital convergence circumstances participate in politics combined with rationality and sensibility and with playful minds. They also convert their daily practices into political participation according to their needs. Networked citizens connect online political participation with offline collective political participation according to situations. This new type of political participation causes changes in Political Structure and makes incessant cases which complement the limitations of representative democracy in and out of the country. Political educators should take notice of changes in the new type of political participation, political structure and representative democracy as well as study results of political science related to these changes. In digital convergence circumstances, adolescents build social networks using social medias and social network services and make collective intelligence and participate in politics collectively if necessary. Political education should aim to produce citizens acting politically, not thinking politically. Political education should suggest directions that adolescents can experience political participation actively and rationally based on deliberation.
