In recent years, generally accepted two surgical methods are compression plate with screw fixation and intramedullary nailing for closed fracture, and external fixator or intramedullary nail for open fracture. There is still controversies in the method of surgical treatment for open and severe comminuted tibia fracture according to there degree of comminution and extent of soft tissue injury.
