This study was performed to devise the manual test of anxiety test for normal Korean by the standardization of anxiety tests. To do this, seven tests were referred; Spielberger's state-trait Anxiety Inventory, Walpe & Lang's Fear Survey Schedule, Sweney's Fear Anxiety Profile, Sarasen's General & Test Anxiety Scale, Taylor's Manifest Anxiety Scale and Templer's Death Anxiety Test. The subjects were 2411 persons from 4 groups; middle school students 783 (male 383 female 400), high school students 551 (male 302, female 249), collage students 472 (male 246, female 227), and adults 604 (male 320, female 284).
The test, "ANXIETY SCALE" was covering eight areas of anxiety; classical phobia and anxiety social and interpersonal anxiety, disease, aging and death anxiety, learning, examination and scholastic anxiety, anxiety over sexual inadequacy and rejection by the opposite sex, poverty anxiety, war anxiety, and miscellaneous anxieties. Each area includes 15 items of questions. The reliability calculated by the retest method was from.796 (p<.001) to .862. Cronabach a was from .673 (p<.001) to .844. The validity concurrent with the our standardized tests was from .237 (p<.05) to .719 (p<.001).
In analyzing the result from 8 anxiety areas, the mean and the standard deviation was calculated by the sex, and the religion in 4 groups.
According to this, 8 standards were set up; male middle school student, female middle school student, male high school student, female high school student, male collage student, female collage student, male adult, female adult.
The Anxiety Test Scale will be used for understanding anxiety degree and structure of person and also this test scale will be used for preventive mental health pogram of guidance and counseling for students who have inadequacy problems from anxiety rather than treatment o diagnosis.
This study will be used as a tool of the evaluation in guidence and counseling, educational studies, and treatment in clinic process.
