국문 초록 (Abstract)

주류 음악학은 마테존이 데카르트적 심리학을 체계적 음악이론에 적용한 합리론자라는 견해를 정설로 받아들여 왔다. 한편 이러한 의견에 이의를 제기하는 학자들은 마테존을 합리론자라기보다는 경험론자로 보며, 따라서 마테존의 의도 또한 형식화된 정감이론을 개발하는 것이었다기보다는 그 자신의 주관적 청취 경험을 가능한 한 자세하게 서술하는 것이었다고 주장한다. 이 연구는 마테존에 대한 상반된 견해를 살펴봄으로써 “합리론자” 마테존이나 “경험론자” 마테존을 넘어 “음악이론가” 마테존의 실체에 더 가까이 접근하는 것을 목표로 한다.
