Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between school sports club satisfaction and depression among female high school students, focusing on the mediating effect of school life stress.
Methods: Data were collected from 377 female high school students participating in school sports clubs. Statistical analyses, including descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM), were conducted to verify the research model.
Results: The analysis revealed that school sports club satisfaction significantly reduced both school life stress and depression. Notably, school life stress partially mediated the relationship between school sports club satisfaction and depression. indicating that satisfaction in school sports clubs alleviates depression both directly and indirectly by reducing school-related stress.
Conclusion: These findings suggest that active participation and high satisfaction in school sports clubs are crucial for reducing depression by mitigating school life stress among female high school students. The study emphasizes the need for diverse and engaging school sports club programs to promote mental health in school settings.
