무슬림들에게 어떻게 그리스도의 십자가를 전할 것인가? = How do We Preach the Cross of Christ to Muslims?

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 십자가를“거리끼는 것”으로 여기는 무슬림들에게 어떻게 그리 스도의 십자가를 전할 수 있을 것인지를 논의하고 그 방법을 제시한다. 이슬 람은 예수께서 십자가에서 대속의 죽음을 당하셨다는 성경의 증언이 알라 (Allah)를 불의한 분으로 만들고 구원에 있어 인간을 무능한 객체로 전락시킨 다고 주장하며 이를 거부한다. 이런 무슬림들에게 십자가를 전하는 것은 쉬운 일이 아니다. 그래서 우리는 무슬림들이 민감하게 반응하는 대속의 이야기로 부터 출발하지 않고도 십자가의 복음을 전할 수 있는 방법을 찾아야 하며, 이것은 가능하다. 그것은 그리스도의 십자가가 하나의 의미만 가지고 있는 것이 아니라 총체적 성격을 가지고 있고 이슬람에 대한 무슬림들의 이해와 해석도 다양하기 때문이다.
그리스도의 십자가는 대속의 의미와 함께 인간의 죄를 사하며(마 26:28; 엡 1:7; 요일 1:7), 인간을 갱신시키고(롬 6:1-11), 악한 통치자들의 권세들을 무력 화하며(골 2:15) 사망을 정복하고(히 2:14), 하나님과 인간 그리고 인간들 사이의 증오와 소외의 장벽을 제거하며(엡 2:14-16) 모든 피조물을 치유하고 화해 시킨다(골 1:20).
그리스도의 십자가가 지니고 있는 이러한 총체성(totality)은 다양한 무슬림 들에게 자신들의 관심사에 부합하면서 동시에 문화적으로 적합한 주제 (thema)로 십자가를 전할 수 있는 길을 열어준다. 대부분의 순니 무슬림들은 죄에 대한 인식을 가지고 죄의 용서를 갈망하며 살아간다. 이런 무슬림들에게 우리는 죄에서 출발하여 죄를 사하고 인간을 새롭게 하는 십자가의 복음을 전할 수 있다.‘ 대신 죽음’의 신앙과 신학을 가지고 있는 시아 무슬림들에게 후사인과 예수의 죽음을 비교함으로서 우리를 대신해 죽음으로서 악을 이기고 승리하신 십자가의 복음을 전할 수 있다. 또한 악한 영들과 현실적 문제로부터 벗어나기를 갈구하며 살아가는 민속 무슬림들에게는 악한 영들과 권세를 멸하시는 십자가의 능력을 증거 함으로 그리스도의 십자가를 전할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Islam refuses to recognize the cross of Christ, arguing that the Biblical account for the death of Jesus Christ portrays Allah as an unjust and mankind as degenerate. As a result, the Biblical cross becomes a “stumbling block” for Muslims. This paper discusses and suggests ways to effectively share the gospel of the cross with Muslims. An approach that does not originate from the idea of redemption, a sensitive topic for Muslims, is attainable because the nature of the cross is not singular. The cross has a multifaceted character that can appeal for the diverse interpretations of Islam.
The meaning of the cross of Christ is not limited to redemption. It forgives our trespasses(Mat. 26:28; Eph. 1:7; 1 John 1:7), renews us(Rom. 6:1-11), incapacitates the power of evil rulers (Col. 2:15), conquers death (Heb. 2:14), removes the barrier between the mankind and God(Eph. 2:14-16), and reconciles all creations (Col. 1:20).
The totality of the cross creates a way to share the gospel by providing culturally appropriate themes and interpretations for all Muslims. Sunni Muslims recognize sin in their lives and desire for atonement. For them, we can communicate the cross that redeems and renews the sinful mankind.
Shi’ite Muslims believe that Hussain died for them. Based on belief, we can create analogies between the cross of Jesus and death of Hussain to share Jesus’ death that substituted for our sins. Lastly, for Folk Muslims who strive to escape evil spirits in their realities, we can testify the power of the cross that destroys evil powers and spirits.
