재외동포 교육용 한국어 교재 문화 요소 분석 및 단원 구성 방안－상호문화 접근법에 기반하여 = An Analysis of Cultural Elements and Suggests a structure for Cultural Units in Korean Textbooks for Overseas Koreans－Focused on Intercultural Approach

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article suggests a structure for culture units in Korean textbooks for overseas Koreans using an intercultural approach. It also analyzes the cultural aspects of the previously published textbook Customized Korean. After analyzing the thirty volume textbook series, we found that the “Culture” sections covered comparative culture content. However, most of the content was made up of simple questions, and these units did not cover each country’s culture in depth. Also, we found that there was too much culture content for most adolescent students to follow, and the content would be difficult to use in an actual classroom because there were no specific activity suggestions. Textbooks “customized” for overseas Koreans must be developed to reflect the culture of each language group to become more intercultural textbooks. Also, instead of relying on a “Culture” section, intercultural factors should be actively inserted in grammar activities or tasks. We believe that this will help the students better understand language and culture. Future Korean textbooks for overseas Koreans should include a more intercultural perspective.
