This study presents a Design Support system (DSS) for 3D DIY (Do-It-Yourself) paper model. The DSS helps designers to develop a new 3D model. The system is consisted of Geon groups that include geometric units and Bond groups that include methods to join parts. Once an object is chosen as a new 3D DIY paper model, designers analyze its shape systematically, and pick out primitive geometric elements (Geon) and connectors (Bond) that consist the model. Then, the analyzed model that is composed of Geon is integrated by Bond. In this paper, the application of this support system on the development of the Statue of Liberty at Ellis island, New York, USA, was implemented on 3D DIY paper model.
