시각장애인 보조기기 접근과 스마트기기 활용 조사연구: 경기도를 중심으로 = A Survey on Assistive Technology Support Access and Smart-device Use of Individuals With Visual Impairments: Focused on Gyeonggi-do Province

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 시각장애인의 보조기기 접근 및 스마트기기 활용 현황을 조사하기 위해 경기도 거주 시각장애인을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 경기도 130명의 시각장애인을 대상으로 전화를 통해 일대일 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집한 자료는 기술통계 및 비모수통계 검정 방법을 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과 연구 참여자는 다양한 보조기기 관련 다양한 지원 및 정보 수집 경로를 나타냈고, 기관 차원보다 개인적 차원의 지원 경로가 상대적으로 높은 것으로 나타났다. 절반 이상의 참가자는 하루 평균 3시간 이상 스마트기기를 일상생활에서 활용하고 있었으나, 이를 활용하기 위한 교육은 1개월에서 3개월에 이르는 단기 보조기기 훈련 프로그램에 참여하였다. 스마트기기 활용도에 있어서는 연령에 따른 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 나타냈다. 연구 결과를 토대로 시각장애인 당사자의 개인적·환경적 요인에 따른 보조기기 지원프로그램의 다변화 필요성과 접근 저해 요인 해소를 위한 고려사항을 선행사례와 함께 논의하였다.

This study investigated the access of assistive technology and smart devices among individuals with visual impairments living in Gyeonggi-do, the largest province in South Korea. The researchers conducted a remote survey via telephone and collected data from 130 participants with blindness or low vision. Descriptive statistics and non-parametric tests, specifically Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests, were employed to analyze the survey data. The results revealed that the participants relatively highly relied more on individual-based support than local support organizations. Over half of the participants experienced short-term assistive technology training, whereas the average usage time of smart devices exceeded three hours daily. Furthermore, technology support models were discussed, considering the diverse geographical characteristics of Gyunggi province, which ranges from metropolitan to rural regions.
