This study examines how the "Jili(吉禮)" (propitious rites) section of the Tang Dynasty's "Da Tang Kaiyuan Li(大唐開元禮)" was adopted and implemented in Silla(新羅)'s state ritual system. Grounded in Confucian classics, the Da Tang Kaiyuan Li(大唐開元禮) codified five major ritual categories to realize rule by ritual, with "Jili(吉禮)" serving to legitimize imperial authority through state sacrifices to Heaven and Earth. As a model for East Asian state rituals, the "Da Tang Kaiyuan Li(大唐開元禮)" codified practices based on Confucian classics to realize rule by ritual. Its "Jili(吉禮)" section, focusing on state sacrifices to Heaven and Earth, was crucial for legitimizing imperial authority. While Silla(新羅) actively incorporated these Confucian structures, it also integrated indigenous elements like Shengong(神宮), Shizumiao(始祖廟), and Bieji(別祭). Ultimately, this paper illustrates how ancient East Asian states utilized the transmission of Confucian rituals to justify political authority and establish governance systems.
