Grain-size distribution in Jinhae bay area has been studied for the evaluation of depositional processes and environments with several approaching methods. Bathymetry of the study area represents very shallow water depths with less than 30m over the whole area. The sediments of the study area were clay, mud, and sandy mud after Folk (1954). In general the sediments are coarse in the inner bay and sheltered coastal zone, whereas those are fine in the middle and other parts of the area. The fine sediments, mainly clay, seemed to be transported from offshore area by landward currents. Statistical moment parameters were calulated by the equations of Friedman(1961) and they ranged as follows: (1) mean; - 0.50~9.92∮ (average, 8.389), (2) standard deviation; 1.43 - 3.68 (average, 2. 34), (3) skewness; - 3.30-2.20 (average, -1.26), (4) kurtosis; 1.75-18.02 (average, 5.64). The correlationships of the statical moment measures show normal linear regressions except that between kurtosis and mean Average weight percentage of calcium cabonate in the sediments was about 10%.
