인공지능 돌봄 로봇의 윤리적 돌봄 가능성 검토 - 버지니아 헬드의 돌봄 윤리 관점을 중심으로 - = Examining the Ethical Care Possibilities of AI Care Robots - Focusing on Virginia Held’s Perspective on Care Ethics -

국문 초록 (Abstract)

다양한 이유로 초래된 돌봄 위기 상황에서 인공지능 돌봄 로봇은 돌봄 공백을 일정 부분 부담할 수 있는 현실적이면서도 효과적인 대안으로 각광받고 있다. 그런데 돌봄 로봇의 활용 과정에서 인간의 취약성이 노출되기 때문에 인공지능 돌봄 로봇의 개발과 활용에 대한 윤리적 고찰이 반드시 필요하다.
본 연구자는 인공지능 돌봄 로봇이 ‘돌봄’이라는 특정한 행위를 수행한다는 점에서 특수성을 가지고 있으며, 따라서 일반적인 수준에서의 윤리적 논의가 아니라 돌봄과 관련된 윤리적 입장을 바탕으로 논의가 이루어져야 한다는 문제의식을 가진다. 따라서 본고의 목적은 돌봄윤리학자 버지니아 헬드의 이론에 근거하여 인공지능 돌봄 로봇에 대한 윤리적 고찰을 시도하는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 돌봄, 돌봄인, 돌봄 맥락이라는 세 가지 기준을 근거로 하여 인공지능 돌봄 로봇이 윤리적 돌봄을 수행하거나 돌봄 환경 개선에 기여할 수 있는지에 대한 검토를 수행한다.

In situations of care crisis caused by various reasons, AI care robots are being spotlighted as a realistic and effective alternative to shoulder some of the care gap. However, the use of care robots exposes human vulnerabilities, necessitating ethical consideration in the development and utilization of AI care robots. The researcher believes that AI care robots have a specificity in that they perform the specific act of care, and thus, the ethical discussion should be based on ethical stances related to care, rather than at a general level. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to attempt an ethical examination of AI care robots based on the theory of care ethicist Virginia Held. This paper conducts a review to determine whether AI care robots can perform ethical care or contribute to the improvement of the care environment, based on three criteria: the care, the caring person, and the context of care.
