世祖의 國防政策에 關한 一硏究 = A Study on king SAE-Jo`s policy of defense

The purpose of this study is to invvestigate the defense policy of King SAE-Jo in the CHOSUN. this thesis may be Summarized as follows:
(1) King SAE-Jo relaxed restrictions on the Social Status of the person in imposing military duties and put the army list in order at, the same time, by enforcing the Bo-Bub, he increased the number of the military personnel and seasoned his troops.
(2) Me established JiN all over the country, constructed a unified network of defense system, expanded DUN-Jun to secure the military provisions and he did his best in maintaining and controlling them.
(3) He strongly encouraged manufacturing weapons of the new model, tried to maintain them, Supplied his troops with books on military science, improved the quality of his soldiers and had them take a pride in their status.
(4) He gave incessant hard trainings to his soldiers, established military discipline, increased combat strength, and tried to maintain the military order.
(5) He took a conciliatory policy toward the YEO-JIN and the JAPAESE. When they made an unreasonable demand, however, he made thorough military attack on them with his reinforced military strength.
As the above defense policy of King SAE-Jo was successful, he could maintain strong military forces, and he could go on an expendition against the YEO-JIN twice and could suppress revolts in his territory.
Consequently, his royal authority was strengthened and he established his subjecthood and national independence. He also made a great contribution to the advancement of culuture in the early period of CHOSUN.
