Currently, into-Korean-translations of foreign literary works are assessed in many books, articles and journals. This study investigates two categories of faithfulness & readability. These two standpoints have been factors in determining whether it is a good translation or a bad translation. In terms of translator's attitude and strategy, he or she could choose to be faithful or to be readable in translating. The most challenging problem for translators is to satisfy both demands simultaneously. So far the translation criticism has been with moral view of finding translation errors, failures and excessive faithfulness to the original. It is wrong attitude that the best translation should be the only one. In other words, this study indicates that there could exist various translations depending on purpose, object, necessity of translation.
