      춤으로서 법의 기호학적 의미 = A Semiotic Analysis of Law as Dance

      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

      Dance and law intersect with each other in the function of providing cure to individuals and integrating society. Dance and law originally were internal to each other. However, as modernization proceeds, dance was banished and became external to law. However, ballet can be understood as symbolizing modern rational law. It`s because the beauty produced by bodily movements of ballet which stick to the canon of the dance is equivalent to the geometrical and formative beauty of rational law, and the sublime beauty of ballet intersects with the universality of rational law. However, the sublime beauty of ballerina and the solemnization of individual bodies forced by rational law are the foundational causes of law`s failure to regulate diverse problems emerging in post-modern society. Law will be able to cope with those problems when it accepts the meaning symbolized by polysexuality of free dances. In postmodern society, law becomes one which dreams of innumerable choreographies. The image of human presupposed by such a law is a dancing ego, not a thinking ego. Contact improvisation, which is a representative postmodern dance, symbolizes the law of feeling which puts importance on the texture of a case, and its continuity of discontinuous contacts symbolizes a creation of chains of equivalence, which is the new type of social solidarity. Break dance which is another example of postmodern dances can be understood as intercultural bodymovement that makes possible the communication between mainstream culture and subculture, and between legal cultures different from each other. Such a body movement transforms absolutely inviolable modern human rights into the human rights of fabrical structure where several cultures intermingle equally. The interlegality of globalized era also becomes one of the meanings the intercultrual movements of break dance present.
