외국인 유학생을 위한 현대시 교육 방법 연구 : 김수영 시를 중심으로 = A Study on Modern Poetry Education Method for Foreign Students: Focused on Kim Su-young’s Poetry

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Literature education for foreigners used to focus mainly on teaching the Korean language. However, literature education can provide not only Korean language education but also social and cultural education at the same time. This paper focuses on this point and examines how to teach contemporary poetry in literature classes for foreign students in undergraduate program.
Considering universality and Korean specificity, a text that reflects history, in other words, a text with a sense of history, is appropriate for the class. Accordingly, “One Day Leaving the Old Palace” (1965), a poem by Kim Su-young, was selected. This poem is a text that reveals the historical, social, and political culture of the 1960s after the 4.19 Revolution in 1960, and has strengths in understanding the moral culture and sentiments of Koreans. Through this, cultural literacy can further be developed. In addition, a comparative analysis of the major poetic languages (liberty, thorny, climax) allows us to see that language can include social and cultural meanings as well as dictionary meanings.
Parody writing was suggested as a way to personalize the text. “One Day Leaving the Old Palace” is a text that clearly illustrates the conflict between the social self and the personal self. By applying this to learners, the results from reflection of the world and of oneself are translated into literature. By doing so, literary ability can be improved while the effect of creative writing is achieved at the same time.
