‘우리’의 확장, 한국소설과 다문화적 풍경들 = Extensions of ‘We’, Korean Novels and Multi-cultural Landscapes

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

One of the important representations that modernity leads to is ‘migration[移住].’ Through the modern history of colonization and war, Korean society has struggled with migration more than any other nation-state. Perhaps the word separation[離散] is more appropriate than migration. This is because the history itself that has penetrated Korea's modern and contemporary era has been 'scattered' by others rather than arbitrary.
However, this migration/separation is noteworthy in that it was also the starting point for establishing a new relationship with others who approached us at the same time.
Consideration of this has progressed from a diaspora problem to a multicultural problem. It is currently the most actively created topic in Korean literature and is important in that it presents a new topic on the boundaries of Korean literature. Therefore, this paper aims to examine what kind of landscape Korean novels have formed in the turmoil of a multicultural society, and to derive a horizon for the new possibilities of Korean literature in the 21st century.
