과학교사와 함께하는 과학고전읽기의 성과 -코스모스(칼 세이건)을 중심으로- = Effect of Reading Science Classics with Science Teachers -Focused on Cosmos (Carl Sagan)-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 코스모스(칼 세이건) 과학고전 읽기 프로그램을 통하여 비대면 상황에서 열린 독서의 가능성을 탐색하는데 목적이 있다.
영주과학교사모임이 주관한 과학교사와 함께하는 과학 고전 읽기 전 과정을 정리해 보고 비대면 상황에서 줌(ZOOM)을 통하여 학생들과 함께할 수 방안을 제시하였다. 과학 고전 읽기 모집과 준비과정, 진행된 상황들을 공유하고, 변화된 생각들을 통해 함께 읽는 즐거움과 나눔의 중요성에 대해 살펴보았다. 그 결과 세 가지 유의미한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 과학고전 읽기를 통하여 과학적 상상력, 과학적 질문과 탐색, 협력을 통한 효과를 얻었다.
첫째, 과학 고전 읽기를 함께함으로써 방대한 분량의 책을 완독하고, 책에 담긴 내용을 통해 과학적 상상력을 신장시키고자 했다.
둘째, 독서를 통하여 학생 스스로 질문하고 그 해답을 직접 찾아보고 이해하는 시간을 경험하면서 과학적 질문을 생성하고 답하는 탐색 과정에서 과학적 사고능력을 키우고자 했다. 생각하는 시간이 부족한 학생들에게 스스로 질문하고 탐색 하는 시간을 주고자 했 학생들이 해결하지 못한 과제는 교사들과 함께 나누고 상호 교감의 시간을 통해 협력하여 해결책을 모색했다.
셋째, 학생들이 자신이 읽은 분야를 직접 PPT를 만들어보고 발표하는 훈련을 통하여 학생이 직접 결과를 도출하여 문제해결력을 키우고 함께 하는 독서의 즐거움을 맛보게 하였다. 척박한 과학의 토양에서 찬란한 꽃을 피우기 위해 영주과학교사모임이 추구하는 과학 고전 읽기 프로그램은 씨앗이 되어 학생들이 저마다의 찬란한 꽃을 피워 과학발전에 기여하는 토대를 마련하고자 했다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study tried to explore the possibility of open reading in non-face-to-face situations through the Cosmos (Carl Sagan) science classic reading program.
The entire process of reading a science classic with a science teacher hosted by the Yeongju Science Teachers Association was summarized, and a plan to be with students through ZOOM in a non-face-to-face situation was suggested. We shared the recruitment, preparation process, and progress of science classic reading, and examined the importance of sharing and the joy of reading together through changed ideas.
First, by reading the classics of science together, we tried to complete a vast amount of books and to expand scientific imagination through the contents of the books.
Second, through reading, students ask themselves questions and experience the time to find and understand the answers themselves, and to develop scientific thinking skills in the search process to generate and answer scientific questions. In order to give students who lacked time to think time to ask questions and explore on their own, the problems that the students could not solve were shared with teachers, and solutions were sought by cooperating through time for mutual communication.
Third, through the training of making and presenting PPTs in the fields they read, the students drew results directly, so that they could develop problem-solving skills and enjoy the pleasure of reading together.
The science classic reading program pursued by the Yeongju Science Teachers Association in order to make a brilliant flower bloom in the barren scientific soil was to become the seed and lay the foundation for each student to bloom their own brilliant flower and contribute to the development of science.
