      Tuberculosis (TB), induced by infection of mycobacterium, was well known as serious disease. Para-aminosalicylic acid (PAS), one of anti-tuberculosis agent, was used to TB therapy. However, utilization of PAS was limited by multi drug resistant (MDR) ...

      Tuberculosis (TB), induced by infection of mycobacterium, was well known as serious disease. Para-aminosalicylic acid (PAS), one of anti-tuberculosis agent, was used to TB therapy. However, utilization of PAS was limited by multi drug resistant (MDR) effect against mycobacterium and highly toxicity. To solve this problem, we synthesized PAS-grafted low molecular-weight water soluble chitosan (LMPs) according to the amounts of PAS. Its chemical structure was analyzed by <sup>1</sup>H-NMR, FT-IR spectrophotometer, and UV-Vis spectrophotometer. In this results, we confirmed that LMPs were successfully synthesized. And particular characterization of LMPs in aqueous environment were analyzed by dynamic light scattering and spectrofluorophoto-meter. These results showed that particle size and critical aggregation concentration (CAC) values were decreased with increment of amounts of PAS contents. Moreover, we confirmed that all LMPs have no cytotoxicity form MTT assay. These results suggest that LMP are expected to good candidate to TB therapy.
