한국어 전공 중국 학생의 학습동기, 학습전략 및 학업성취도 간의 관계

국문 초록 (Abstract)

외국어 학습과정에서 학습동기와 학습전략은 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는 중요한 변인이다. 이 연구의 목적은 한국어를 전공하는 중국 학생들을 대상으로 학습동기, 학습전략, 학업성취도 간의 관계를 탐색하는 것이다. 이와 같은 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 이 연구에서 설정한 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국어 전공 중국 학생들이 갖고 있는 학습동기는 어떠한가? 둘째, 한국어 전공 중국 학생들이 가장 많이 사용하는 학습전략은 무엇인가? 셋째, 한국어 전공 중국 학생들의 학습동기와 학습전략 및 학업성취도 간에는 어떤 관계가 있는가?
이 연구의 대상은 중국 하얼빈 시에 소재한 대학교에 재학 중인 한국어 전공 학습자 122명이다. 이 연구에서는 기존연구에서 개발된 자기보고식의 한국어 학습동기 척도와 한국어 학습전략 척도를 사용하였고, 한국어 학업성취도 척도는 주관적 평가와 객관적 시험점수를 함께 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 연구문제를 탐색하기 위해 SPSS 18.0 프로그램을 활용하여, 신뢰도분석, 빈도분석, 상관분석 등을 실시하였다.
주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국어 전공 중국 학생들이 가장 많이 사용하는 학습 동기는 외국어에 대한 관심으로 나타났다. 둘째, 한국어 전공 중국 학생들이 가장 많이 사용하는 학습전략은 인지전략으로 나타났다. 셋째, 한국어 학습동기와 한국어 학업 성취도의 관계에 대한 결과를 종합해보면, 전체 학습동기 변인 중에서 한국어에 대한 호감, 한국어 학습에 대한 태도, 통합적 동기, 한국어 수업에 대한 불안감, 도구적 동기는 한국어 학업성취도와 상관이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 외국어에 대한 관심은 한국어 학업성취도와 정적인 상관관계를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 외국어에 대한 관심이 높은 학생은 한국어 성적이 높아지는 것을 알 수 있다. 넷째, 한국어 학습전략과 학업 성취도의 관계에 대한 결과를 종합해보면, 전체 학습 전략 변인들 중에서 기억 전략과 인지 전략이 한국어 학업성취도와 정적인 상관관계를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 한국어 전공 중국 학생들이 한국어를 배울 때 기억전략과 인지전략을 많이 활용할수록 한국어 성적이 향상된다고 할 수 있다.
외국인들에게 한국어에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있는 현실을 고려해볼 때, 이 연구는 한국어를 전공하는 중국 학생들이 한국어에 대해 관심을 갖도록 하는 것이 중요하고, 이와 관련하여 다양하고 흥미로운 한국어 교수법의 개발이 필요하다는 교육적 시사점을 제공하고 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Learning motivations and learning strategies are the most critical variables affecting academic achievement in foreign language learning. The primary purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between learning motivation, learning strategy and academic achievement among the Chinese students majoring in the Korean language. To fulfill its purpose, the research question has been set up as follows: First, what types of motivation can be found when the Chinese students learn the Korean language? Second, which learning strategy are the Chinese students most likely to use while learning Korean? Third, what is the relationship between learning motivation, learning strategy and academic achievement of the Chinese students learning Korean?
The survey was conducted on 122 students who majored in Korean from the University in Harbin, China. In this study, the scale of the learning motivation and the learning strategy in learning Korean were used, which were developed in previous studies, and also the scale of the academic achievement was used with both subjective and objective test scores. The collected data were used to explore research questions by conducting reliability analysis, frequency analysis, correlation analysis with SPSS 18.0 program.
The results of the study are as follows: First, the most commonly used learning motivation is students" interest in learning a foreign language. Also, the most commonly used learning strategy is the cognitive strategy. Third, the study shows that students` good feeling toward learning Korean, the positive attitude, integrated motivation, anxiety about learning Korean and instrumental motivation do not affect students` academic achievement. Instead, there is a high correlation between interest in learning a foreign language and students` academic achievement. In other words, it can be shown that students with high interest in foreign languages performed better than other students. Fourth, the study indicates that the memory strategies and cognitive strategies can affect the high achievement in learning Korean. That is to say, the more Chinese students use their memory and cognitive strategies when learning Korean, the better their Korean scores will be.
Considering foreigners` increasing interest in learning Korean, the study was meaningful in that it can contribute to making the Chinese students have interest in learning Korean and provide educational implications in developing a variety of Korean teaching methods.
