Conventional driving system for drawing frame consists of various exchange gears and gear trains which possess great moment of inertia and require much caution in optimization according to diverse process conditions. Today, when flexible manufacturing is a basic concept for small lot production, it is imperative to develop a new driving system for drawing: frame, which can quickly react on diverse demands from production circumstances. In this study, it was attempted to clarify the possibility of a new driving concept : the individual motor drive system, which can meet the requirements in industry. Primary results show that the silver produced by the new driving mechanism, a drawing frame with the individual motor driving system, has a relatively high irregularity in linear density than that by a conventional system, however, better results can be expected when the driving motor speed fluctuation error is less than 1%.
