Small business owners hoping for re-entrepreneurship must build diverse strategies and aspire to new success based on their past experiences of failure. Achieving business innovation and performance in the re-entrepreneurship process requires the interplay of various factors. Although these entrepreneurs need more innovative business strategies to overcome previous failures and achieve new success, their efforts tend to be significantly influenced by the uncertainty of the business environment.
This study aims to analyze the impact of business innovation behaviors on the expected performance of small business owners who wish to re-establish their businesses, with a focus on understanding the moderating effect of business environment uncertainty. The analysis results indicate that business innovation behaviors positively affect expectations for both financial and non-financial expected performance. This suggests that innovation behaviors play a crucial role in enhancing the performance expectations of small business owners. Furthermore, regarding the moderating effect of business environment uncertainty, the influence of innovation behaviors on financial performance expectations was more significant when the business environment was stable. This implies that in a stable environment, business innovation behaviors have a stronger impact on financial and non-financial expected performance. The findings suggest that the effectiveness of innovation behaviors can be maximized when small business owners can anticipate and respond to changes in the business environment.
Based on the findings of this study, the aim is to provide policy implications for enhancing the effectiveness of support programs for small business owners' re-entrepreneurship. Additionally, the study seeks to contribute to the development of policies necessary for small business owners operating in uncertain business environments by identifying effective strategies for implementing re-entrepreneurship support programs and discovering practical support initiatives for small businesses facing management crises.
