The purpose of this study was to examine the selection motivation, expected effect, and scale impact of the social franchise model among various models of social enterprises. The characteristics of social franchises, which are independent variables, were divided into characteristics of social enterprises and characteristics of franchise enterprises, and selection motivation, expected effect, and scale impact were used as mediating and dependent variables to confirm the causal relationship between each variable and conduct a study on the possibility of utilizing the social franchise model. The results of the study are as follows. Among the characteristics of social franchises, social value orientation, business feasibility, replication and scalability influenced both the selection of social franchise models and the expected effects of the future. Social value orientation, decision-making structure, and business feasibility influenced scale impact. In addition, it was confirmed that social franchise model selection not only raises expectations for performance but also affects the impact through expansion as the social franchise selection motivation also appears to have an effect on the future expected effect and scale impact. Through this study, the positive effects of some characteristics of the social franchise model on selection motivation, expected effects, and scale impact were verified, and through this, it is significant in that it provides a theoretical basis for the social franchise model to be activated. It is also significant in that it has conducted research on social franchise models that have not yet been activated in Korea to inform stakeholders in the social economy ecosystem of the possibility of using social franchises and provide policy implications.
