Over forty years ago the Korean Academic Society of Business Administration (KASBA) was established. We, however, are still looking for what is Korean management which can be differentiated from management in America, Japan, or Germany. This study aims to initiate the study on Korean management or management in Korea by looking over the period of introduction of management in Korea. After the National Liberation in 1945 the influence on Korean management by Japanese and German management through education system, textbook translation, and students who studied in these countries has begun to be switched with that by American management in many ways. Since 1955 universities began to establish management departments. Many books in management area including textbooks were published. Washington Project was initiated for training Korean scholars at U.S. universities including Washington University since 1958. During the second half of 1950s, Korean Productivity Center, KASBA, management research institutes at many universities and other organizations were established and began to study contemporary management, educate business practitioners, and consult companies. Planning and management system, case study method, PERT/CPM technique among others were introduced through the U.S. Army in Korea.
