The metabolic syndrome refers to the clustering condition of the several risk factors like dyslipidemia, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obesity, which might affect on the morbidity of cardiovascular diseases and type II diabetes. The guidelines and criteria on the metabolic syndrome are differed from each other; WHO, ATP III, IED and harmonizing the metabolic syndrome. Although the recently these criteria have considered the effects of sex and ethnicity, however, it seems hard to set up optimal criteria. Risk factors on metabolic syndrome classified into controllable factors (obesity, lifestyles, etc.) and incontrollable factors (sex, age, etc.). Recently several researches have reported that risk factors could be modified through lifestyle modification programs which mainly consisted of dietary and physical exercise program. Physical activities by exercise and/or leisure time do affect on improving the risk factors, therefore it may become essential of lifestyle modification programs.
