Spread-spectrum transmission systems show the outstanding performance against multi-path fading and narrowband noise, so that they can be utilized in the very noisy channel. CSK/SS(Code Shift Keying/Spread Spectrum) method has been used in the power line modem for remote control of home networking and home automation etc.
In this paper, we suggest the implementation of a power line modem which transmits control signals for a remote control. The proposed modem supports a full duplex communication using FDD(Frequency Division Duplex). We also showed how to design each block with a general purpose DSP chip.
We propose a system that uses DCSK/SS methods, and analyze the effect of correlation for CSK codes. Lastly, We present the performance comparison between the DS-BPSK system and the proposed system, in which the cyclic CSK method is applied with the use of PN code to transmit data using BPSK modulation and the received data is demodulated by both PN code correlator and BPSK demodulator.
