아동 학대 살인 사건으로 본 한국어와 영어, 일본어의 공감 반응 대조 = Contrast Analysis of the Empathic Response between Korean, English, and Japanese as a Child Abuse Murder Case

국문 초록 (Abstract)

비대면으로 소통되는 세계에서 한국어와 영어, 일본어에서는 어떤 방식으로 공감 반응을 나타내며 그 과정에 문화적 요인은 어떤 영향을 주는지 분석하는 것이 이 논문의 목적이다. 이를 위해 각 국가에서 대중에게 널리 알려진 사건 가운데 공감 반응을 일으키기 쉬운 부정적인 사건을 선정하여 분석을 진행했다. 공감 반응은 전략과 표현을 분석했는데 전략 범주는 감정 관련, 인지 관련, 행위 관련 범주 3가지로 분류되고 하위 항목으로 10가지 항목을 나눌 수 있었다. 감정 관련 범주에서는 모든 언어에서 감정 표현이 많은 비율을 차지하는 것을 볼 수 있지만 직접 공감하기와 같은 경우 한국어와 일본어에서만 찾아볼 수 있었다. 공감 표현에서 감정 표현은 한국어와 일본어에서 슬픔과 같은 부정적인 감정 표현이 많이 관찰되었다. 또한 한국어 감정 표현에서는 미안함의 표현이 나타난 것이 특징적이었다. 이러한 감정 반응 전략에서 한국어에는 여성성이나 집단주의, 의무감 등과 같은 문화 요인이 영향을 주는 것을 볼 수 있다. 이 연구를 통해 공감 반응 분석에서 이분법적인 논의가 아닌 다차원적이고 세부적인 분석의 필요성을 제기했다는 점에서 의미가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to analyze how Korean, English, and Japanese respond in a non-face-to-face world of communication and how cultural factors affect the process. To this end, negative events were selected and analyzed among events widely known to the public in each country. Empathic response analyzed strategies and expressions, and the strategy categories were classified into three categories related to emotion, cognition, and behavior, and 10 items could be divided into sub-items. In the emotion-related category, emotional expression accounts for a large proportion in all languages, but in cases such as direct empathy, it was only found in Korean and Japanese. In the expression of empathy, many negative expressions such as sadness were observed in Korean and Japanese. In addition, it was characterized by the expression of sorry in the Korean expression of emotion. In this emotional response strategy, it can be seen that cultural factors such as femininity, collectivism, and a sense of duty affect the Korean language. This study is meaningful in that it raised the need for multidimensional and detailed analysis rather than dichotomous discussion in empathic response analysis.
