This paper consider the manufacturing flow line systems, which contain the multiple workstations and the finite storage spaces in between. This system can be modeled by a tandem queueing systems with finite buffers. The great dimensionality of the state space renders the analysis of such a system a formidable task. We propose an algorithm to obtain the marginal state probabilities based on the properties for the system with three workstations. Other popular performance measures, such as the system utilization, the blocking probabilities, the average sojourn time, can be easily calculated using the marginal probabilities.
