事實性으로 바라본 『 尾編⋅科場』의 특징과 의미 = Characteristics and Meanings of 『YoungMiPyen⋅GwaJang』 from the Viewpoint of Factuality

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper aims to examine characteristics and meanings of 「GwaJang」 in 『YoungMiPyen』, the work of Lee, Un-yeong (1722~1794). To this end, the discussion is limited to factuality. This paper examines characteristics of 『YoungMiPyen ⋅ GwaJang』 through comparison with systems and laws of the late Joseon period and classifies them into three types. In other words, the discussion is divided into political misconducts and applicants’ ways of responses to them, abuses resulted from the increase of applicants, and an operational maintenance resulted from tightened managements.
Through these discussions, it is identified that the main characteristic of 『YoungMiPyen』 is that it sincerely contains specific realities such as processes and backgrounds of exams through various views not only from applicants’ eyes but also from test administrators’ eyes. This is because a writer’s empirical statements as a previous experiencer of the exam and indirect statements from his relatives are reflected. Nevertheless, since the writer raises questions about the state exam as a member of the Noron line (老論系) its subjectivity can not be excluded in the process of reproductions of the reality. That is, 『YoungMiPyen⋅GwaJang』 has its significance since it shows the fact that various values and even extremely conflicting stances coexist at the same time.
