The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of computer assisted instruction on mathematics learning performance and learning attitude of the student with mental retardation. The subjects of this study were three high school students with mental retardation of D special school in Cheonnam province. The results of this study were as follows: First, using of computer assisted instruction was effective to enhance mathematics learning performance of the student with mental retardation. Subjects of this study were increased in scores of mathematics learning performance pre · post test. Student 1 and 3 were improved in addition and algebra area by computer assisted instruction. But student 2 was not consistent in sub-category of the mathematics learning performance test. Second, using computer assisted instruction was effective to enhance mathematics learning attitude of the students with mental retardation. In learning mathematics, computer assisted instruction changed student 1 and 3 that have positive attitudes. During computer assisted instruction, attention time of the student 1 and 3 longer than general mathematics class. Besides, they were motivated to solve mathematics problems by computer assisted instruction. But student 2 was not improved in mathematics learning attitude. At first he liked to solve mathematics problem by computer assisted instruction, but he was failed often when he was facing difficulty problem. In the end he was not changed in mathematics learning attitude.
