This study was conducted in order to generate model particles of particles in diesel emission without engine setup and then to investigate a way to remove those particles by ozone treatment. The particles, which consist of carbon agglomerates and hydrocarbon, were generated from a spark discharge generator and hydrocarbon condensation. The sizes of enlarged carbon particles by the condensation of benzene(C?H?) and dodecane(C₁₂H₂?) did not depend on the initial sizes, 40 and 80㎚. But the maximum condensational growth of carbon agglomerates by dodecane condensation was 112 times as the initial size, 40nm, while that of the agglomerates by benzene was 3.25 times. And ozone treatment on the particles made the size distribution shift to lower size range, which means their mean size decreased by the maximum value, 8.8%.
