This study was an attempt to discover the differences in the development of physical fitness in accordance with age between the boys and girls of day schools and those of night schools in kwang Ju City.
1,355 of boy and girl students were tested by the following 15 items of physique test, items of physical strength test, 7items of diagnosis test of physical fitness test, and 5items of motor ability test,
1. Physique Test
1) The growth of stature with age was very conspicuous in both day and night schools; neverthless, the boys and girls of day schools showed a little greater rate than those of night schools, and the greatest difference was 2.7㎝ of sixteen-year-old boys and 0.6㎝ of seventeen-year-old girls.
2) The increasing rate of body weight of the boys and girls of day schools was a little greater than those of night schools.
3) In the growth of chest the boys and girls of day schools were superior to those of night schools, and greatest difference aws 0.6㎝ of boys and 2.2㎝ girls.
2. Physical fitness Test
1) Teh record of 100-meter Running showed that the speed rate of boys increased with age, where-as that of girls began to decrease at the age of fifteen. In 100-meter race also, the boys and girls of day schools were superior to those fo night schools.
2) In running broad jump also, the boys and girls of day schools were superior to those of night schools with the grestest difference of 20.4㎝ of fourteenyear-old boys and 15.2㎝ of thirteen-year-old girls.
3) In long race (1,000m, 800m), the boys and girls of day schools were superior to those of night schools, but its rate of girls began to decrease rapidly at the age of fifteen.
4) In boys' chinning and girls' hanging with arms bent also, the boys and girls of day schools were superior to those of night schools.
5) In sit-up, the boys and girls of day schools were superoir to those of night schools with the average difference of 1 to 4. 7 times.
6) Instand trunk flexion, the boys and girls of day schools were superior to those of night schools except for the age of thirteen.
