This thesis is to study the spiritual and historical aspect of Bek Su˘k's poem in 1930. I focused a change of internality in some poems as well as paid attention to selecting his valuable work.
In this thesis, I considered the world of Bek Su˘k's poem in three aspects. First is the relation between his poem and modernism, second the consciousness of loss and last the perception of reality, which items are summarized as follows.
First, when we consider Korean history under the colonial rule of Japanese in 1930's, it seems to be right that Bek Su˘k's was influenced by modernism in respect of method of creation rather than a world view. As it can be seen in his early poem, this is because he chose non-modernistic material as a poetic object.
Second, in Bek Su˘k's poem's where the consciousness of loss is expressed there are <There is a white wind wall>, <I, Natasha and White donkey>, <When I turn away ma face like it> and so on. These works show passive life or nostalgia.
Therefore Bek Su˘k's poems represent the consciousness of loss as not a confrontative consciousness against reality hut an acceptance of a pain in reality. His poems show a tenacious attitude of life as we pull our ways through the reality. In this point, it makes us understand the aspect of Korean typical life.
Third, Bek Su˘k's who lived in 1930's saw and felt so sad, grievous and depressed lives that we can find them from other people in his early work. In his late, this is, 1940's, he let the phase of perception of reality adhere to his problem.
Bek Su˘k's was a poet, who recognized the reality and honest attitude under the colonial situation where our future would not he prosperous.
Moreover, the purpose of this thesis is to find out that he reproached himself with the internalized cognition of history and tried to keep his pure soul.
