Objective : a-MSH (alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone) and IBMX (3-lsobutyl-1-methylxanthine) were known as regulating melanogenesis and differentiation, but they were restricted usage because of stability. So, natural products have developed about regulating melanogenesis and differentiation. Therefore, we investigated about effect of Achyramthis Radix (AR) ethanol extract on gray hair.
Methods : a-MSH was used as a positive control. We set up the safe concentration range by MTT assay and conducted melanin contents and tyrosinase activity in mouse melanoma (B16F10) cells.
Results : As results, melanin contents were increased in Achyramthis Radix ethanol extract (AR) group contrast to control group. Also, AR group is higher than control group on tyrosinase activity.
Conclusion : Our results suggest that AR could be used as a potential material for the treatment of gray hair by increasing the melanogenesis of B16F10 cells.
