실천신학 : 교단 분열 이전의 한국성결교회 전도활동에 관한 연구 ?1945년~1961년 = Research on the Evangelistic Activities of the Korea Holiness Church before the Denominational Split(1945-1961)

This paper is about the evangelistic activities of the Korea Holiness Church before the denominational Split. The Korean Holiness Church has self-esteem called the communion built through evangelism, but there was not study of evangelistic activities that become identity of the communion mind systematically. “Research on the Evangelistic Activities of the early Korea Holiness Church before the liberation” which is the writer`s doctoral dissertation is unique. Hereupon, this paper would like to lay the foundation stone for the advancement of the evangelism of the Korea Holiness Church by studying of the evangelistic activities of the Korea Holiness Church before the denominational Split followed the research on the Evangelistic Activities of the early Korea Holiness Church. That`s why there are no scientific study and development without basic research is preceded. The first characteristic of the evangelistic activities on this time is that direct evangelism is invigorated after the evangelistic activities of the early Korea Holiness Church. The communion organized each missionary team actively, also the direct evangelistic activities are progressing thorough each institution of the communion. Especially, the direct evangelistic activities were practiced enough to compare in the evangelism of the early Kore Holiness Church by work of the Reverend Lee sung bong who is a prominent evangelist. Also, ‘the year of jubilee-missionary team’ was organized and worked on positive lines for the year of jubilee of the communion Second, indirect evangelism was begun to activate facing in domestic difficult realistic circumstance after liberation. Because the security of funds was preceded by the fund which Elmer Kilborun has raised, and also J.B. Crouse was engaged as a member in World Relief Committee. As a result, the indirect evangelistic activities of the Korea Holiness Church were activated better becoming the domestic supply passageway of huge alms and supplies. The Korea Holiness Church is jumped in relief work that reconstruct the country in earnest while developing educational work and social work slowly. Third, the activation of indirect evangelistic activities on this time caused the result that weaken the spirit of direct evangelism. This result is the cause of the Denominational Split. If this problem was handled wisely, the Korea Holiness Church could practice a balanced evangelistic activities in a holistic perspective, and could produce improved evangelistic activities and better results. How enormous the effect that evangelistic activities have influenced the communion in the Korea Holiness Church is confirmed again through the research of this paper. At least, evangelistic activities have helped the growth of the Korea Holiness Church until the Denominational Split, and even had great influence on the Denominational Split. Hereupon, I expect that more expansive study about evangelistic activities which is based on advanced researches such as this paper is continued.
