Purpose of this study is to determine teaching materials according to the subject matter so that original teaching materials·teaching aids for creative Korean classical children's songs would be used at educational facilities for small children and lower elementary school graders by studying them. And the researcher presets methods of using original teaching materials·teaching aids for creative Korean classical children's songs in order to achieve educational goals.
In order to achieve this purpose, first of all, the researcher examined the preceding studies emphasizing the necessary for and importance of teaching materials in the activities of Korean classical children's songs.
In order to present the methods of activities centering on the sub-subjects per each subject matter, the researcher did tests·practices for the total 65 children for 5 tims during summer and winter special instructions (10 times in total) respectively at elementary school and library. On the basis of the experience of winning a prize at a nationwide exhibition of teaching materials·teaching aids in 2002 by developing teaching materials using Korean classical music for special children, the researcher applied school work of Korean classical music using them at the educational facilities for small children. Accordingly by selecting proper Korean classical children's songs for children, the researcher divided 30 small children into 3 classes of 5, 6 and 7 year old children and applied proper Korean classical children's songs to them.
For such purpose, the researcher examined the main contents of original Korean classical children's songs for elementary school 3 or 4 graders and also examined the preceding research theses on Korean classical children's songs, considering their rhythm, time and words of songs.
In addition, the researcher also analyzed rhythm and words of children's songs composed by Jung, Sugn Ja, which the researcher used the most so that I would use their program per annual subject matter.
As the result of examining the present status of research activities, in the field of our national classical music education, in fact the ratio of possessing Korean classical music equipment at kindergartens or elementary schools was increased since Jung, Sung Ja's thesis in 1985, but all researchers still emphasized insufficiency of teaching materials·teaching aids.
Through many writings, short course studies and special lectures of Korean classical music for small children all over the country, Jung, Sung Ja, who is the pioneer in the first Korean classical music for small children and has 27 years' know-hows, became well-known at educational facilities thereof. Therefore, the researcher analyzed rhythm, the words and sources of her creative Korean classical children's songs and approached to the necessity for teaching materials and aids according to the teaching methods.
And by classifying the sub-subjects for each subject matter on the basis of rhythm, time and words of Korean classical children's songs, the researcher presented methods of using data and original teaching materials·aids.
Results of this study by means of the above methods are as follows.
1. Through this study, 30 methods of activities centering on sub-subjects to be used for small children and lower elementary school graders were developed.
2. Even with one subject matter, various teaching materials·aids could be developed according to determined sub-subjects.
3. It was found that teaching materials·aids could be used by means of various methods according to concerned activities.
4. In the aspect of elementary school teaching methods, the researcher could find changes from static type of school work such as singing songs after hearing to voluntary and active type such as making activities while touching teaching materials.
5. And it was found that the rhythm of children's songs used dotted notes much and there were many light songs with fast time.
6. The use of patterned teaching materials for learning rhythm was helpful for mathematical way of thinking.
7. The teaching materials using colors for musial notes helped children to learn rhythm for short period of time.
8. Because the words of Korean classical children's songs by Jung, Sung Ja were proper for children's levels, they were very good for being used not only for dance movements but also as teaching materials.
9. It was also found that Jung, Sung Ja's Korean classical children's songs were sung as the theme songs in life at educational facilities for small children
10. It was found that the words of Korean classical children's songs found sources among life experience or natural phenomena.
11. It was also found that the contest of creative Korean classical children's songs sponsored by the National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts was researched much.
12. Methods of learning the words and rhythms of songs with OHP films by reusing the monitor of a computer could be helpful for scientific way of thinking.
13. The janggu Nanta performance using scrapped tires and torn leather of a janggu could made us confirm the educational effect for environmental improvement. as well as interest in Korean classical music.
14. Children taking school work using teaching materials·aids rather than children receiving simple education of songs·rhythm demonstrated far faster acceptance of Korean classical children's songs and more interest in them in such ways as humming them in their lives.
