<AbsText> IN THE PRECEDING ARTICLE mention has been made of the style of entertainment put forward by the old circus managers, but Philip Astley merits an article to himself, for not only was he a remarkable man, but the circus owes him an unredeemable debt, though of course he did not originate that style of entertainment. Not only did Astley&apos;s career keep him constantly before the public, but there was also a good deal of romance about his life, especially during his earlier years, which added much to his undoubted popularity, and even to-day renders his biography an eventful one to read. </AbsText>
