무사시노 미술대학의 고전 회화실기 수업에 대한 고찰: ‘회화조성’ 실기 교육과정을 중심으로 = An Examination of Classical Painting Practicum at Musashino Art University: Focusing on the Painting Composition Practicum Curriculum

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 일본 무사시노 미술대학(武蔵野美術大学, Musashino Art University) 유화학과의‘회화조성(繪 畵助成)’, 즉 회화구성 수업 교과과정에서 나타나는 고전 회화기법 활용 수업에 관한 연구이다. 일본의 대표적 인 미술대학인 무사시노 미술대학은 아시아권 대학임에도 100여 년의 역사 속에서 서구 명문 미술대학과 대 등한 교육과정을 구성하여 체계적으로 진행하고 있다.‘회화조성’실기 수업은 15세기 르네상스 회화부터 18세 기 신고전주의 회화까지 이어진 고전 회화기법에 관한 연구수업 과정으로 주요 미술사 시기의 고전 회화재료 연구 및 구성, 기법 운용 연구이다. 이와 같은 연구를 통해 표현 개념과 기법의 다양성을 이해할 수 있어, 현 대미술에서 표현기법의 활용에 적용할 수 있다. 그래서 본 연구는 무사시노 미술대학의 회화조성 교육과정을 분석하여 국내 미술대학 서양화 수업으로서의 필요성과 적용 가능성을 고찰해보고자 한다.
본 연구는 무사시노 미술대학의 이념과 교과과정, 유화학과 교과 구성을 선행연구로 분석하고, 유화 학과의 교과 운용에서 회화구성 수업 실기의 역할, 교육과정의 구성, 형태 등을 분석해보고자 한다. 그리고, 고전 회화 기법 교육이 현대회화교육에 미치는 영향과 그 필요성을 연구한다. 이와 같은 연구를 기반으로 국내 미술대학 서양화 전공에서 고전 회화기법을 활용한 회화 기초연구 교과과정을 체계적으로 진행한다면 국내 현대회화는 다양하고 참신한 표현성을 나타낼 수 있는 미래 예술가를 육성하고 배출할 수 있을 것이다.

This study examines the use of classical painting techniques in the "Painting Composition" curricu- lum of the Oil Painting Department at Musashino Art University, Japan. As one of Asia's leading art universities, Musashino Art University has developed a systematic curriculum over its century-long history, comparable to prestigious Western art schools. The practical classes in "Painting Composition" focus on the research and application of classical painting techniques from key periods in art history, spanning from Renaissance paintings of the 15th century to Neoclassical works of the 18th century. The curriculum includes research on traditional materials, composition methods, and technique application. This approach allows students to understand the diversity of expression con- cepts and techniques, which can later be integrated into modern art practices. Accordingly, this study aims to analyze the "Painting Composition" program at Musashino Art University to explore the ne- cessity and applicability of implementing similar courses in Western painting programs at domestic art universities.
This research investigates the philosophy and curriculum structure of Musashino Art University, with a focus on the roles and framework of the "Painting Composition" course in the Oil Painting Department. Additionally, it examines how the education in classical painting techniques impact modern art education and its contemporary relevance. Based on these findings, the study suggests that systematically incorporating foundational research curricula on classical painting techniques in the Western painting majors of domestic art universities could cultivate future artists capable of pro- ducing diverse and innovative expressions in contemporary art.
