The usage of ultra high strength steel(UHSS) in automotive industry is increasing due to its high weight reduction. The main problem in designing with UHSS is higher elastic recovery amount from its higher yield stress but similar elastic modulus against mild steel. Several hundred simulations are performed by using DEFORM-2D to understand and predict elastic recovery amount in multi stage cantilever bending process. Several design parameters are indentified and suggested to for process design without elastic recovery.
