대학의 교수방법 개선에 관한 연구 = A study on the improvement of teaching in University

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 대학의 교수방법의 실태를 조사하고 문제점을 개선하려는 목적 하에서 다음과 같은 네 가지 조사를 수행했다. 첫째, 교수방법의 개념적 틀을 4가지-교수목표, 교수-학습의 내용, 교수-학습의 경험, 학습의 평가-로 수립하고, 이것에 기초하여 교수방법의 실태를 분석하고 교수방법의 문제점을 확인하였다. 그 결과로 밝혀진 교수방법의 문제점들은 다음과 같다. ① 많은 교수들이 교수목표를 달성하지 못하고 있고(39.2%), ② 교수목표를 달성하지 못한 이유로 많은 교수들이 시간의 부족(38.8%)을 꼽고 있고, ③강의를 위한 주 교재가 빈약하고(66.3%가 1권만 선택), ④ 교수 내용의 전달방법이 지나치게 설명 위주의 강의에 의존하고(67.0%), ⑤ 학점 산출을 위한 평가방법으로 상대 평가를 지나치게 사용하고 있었다(23.7%). 둘째, 교수방법 중 개선이 필요한 영역에 대한 의견을 조사했는데 가장 시급하게 개선이 요구되는 영역은 교수내용의 전달방법이었다. 이어서 교수내용의 전달방법 중에서 가장 개선이 요구되는 부분을 조사했는데 그 결과 '학생을 수업에 참여시키는 기술'에서 개선이 요구되는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 대학의 강의 평가에 대한 의견을 조사했는데 그 결과 63.9%의 교수들은 현 강의 평가에 대해 개선을 요구하고 있었다. 넷째, 교수방법 개선을 위한 웍샾이나 세미나에 대한 의견을 조사했는데 그 결과 전체교수의 67.1%가 웍샾이나 세미나에 참석한 경험이 없었으며 기회가 주어진다면 참석하기를 희망하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The size of higher education in Korea has been expanded rapidly after 1970. The increasing number of students in higher education brought several problems to our country. The increasing numbers and the changing character of students in higher education gradually show up a need to reconsider ways of teaching. Therefore, this study is try to solve these problems and find out effective ways of teaching in universities.
The purposes of this study were to survey the present state and problems related to teaching and to find out alternatives for the improvement of teaching in university.
1. The survey showed the following problems in ways of teaching:
1) 39.2% of 176 professors did not obtain partially teaching goals which they set in advance.
2) 38.8 of 67 professors who did not obtain partially teaching goals answered because they did not have time enough to obtain the goals.
3) 66.3% of 175 professors took only one book for textbook. Just one book for semester is not enough.
4) 67.0% of 176 professors delivered information and knowledge by lecture. Only 15.3% of them took advantage of a few of dissuasion methods. This results reveal our teaching methods are not diverse. This point has to be improved soon to develop university students' high-order thinking.
5) 23.7% of 177 professors took advantage of norm-referenced evaluation.
2. The points which the improvement is called for are as follows:
1) Professors have to obtain all teaching goals. If not, they have to try to get information related to it.
2) Professors have to give all students more opportunities to read books related to the subject.
3) Professors should try to get used to diverse teaching methods, such as discussion method, role play etc.
4) Professors should stick to criteria-referenced evaluation rather than norm-referenced evaluation.
