식민지 지배를 심문하는 이산(離散)의 주체적 글쓰기 : 재일조선인 서경식의 비판적 글쓰기에 대해 = Independent Writing of Diaspora Inquiring Colonial Rule -about critical writing of Choseon residents in Japan, Seo Kyungsik

국문 초록 (Abstract)

서경식의 글쓰기는 우리가 왜 이산문학에 관심을 쏟아야 하는지, 혹시 이산문학 연구의 오류가 있었다면, 어떻게 올바른 방향을 바로잡아야 하는지에 대한 시금석이라 해도 손색이 없다. 그의 글쓰기 전반에 녹아있는 식민주의로부터 완전한 해방을 위해 치열히 실천되고 있는 ‘기억의 정치학’과 ‘비판의 윤리학’은 과거에 얽매여 가해자를 계속 원망하기 위해서가 아니라 미래의 확실한 평화를 위해 필요한 것이다.
서경식의 재일조선인에 대한 자의식은 그의 문학체험과 밀접한 관련이 있다. 그것은 독서와 창작이다. 그의 재일조선인 담론은 어느 순간 갑자기 돌출하여 그 빼어난 문제의식을 드러낸 게 아니다. 그는 문학체험을 통해 재일조선인 문제는 일본 사회 내부에서 재일조선인에 대한 일본인의 민족적 차별을 극복해야 하는 것으로 국한되는 게 아니라 재일조선인 문제의 심층에 자리하고 있는 제국주의와 식민주의를 발본색원하는 데 궁극의 목적이 있음을 인식한다. 이것은 그에게 분단 체제를 허물기 위한 과제와도 면밀히 연동돼 있다.
여기서 서경식의 글쓰기에서 유달리 주목해야 할 것은 ‘국가주의’와 구별되는 ‘국민주의’에 대한 비판적 성찰이다. 서경식이 경계하고 비판하는 지식인은 ‘의사 비판적(擬似批判的) 지식인’으로, 그가 특별히 경계하는 ‘국민주의’에 포섭된 지식인이다.
요컨대, 서경식의 글쓰기는 ‘과거의 역사’를 현재의 맥락으로 소환하여 재해석하고 역사의 새 지평으로 갱신시키는 차원에서, 과거의 일체의 것을 부정하고 망각하는 것에 대한 ‘기억의 투쟁’과 다를 바 없다. 아울러 그의 글쓰기는 이러한 ‘기억의 투쟁’을 기획하고 실천하는 ‘기억의 정치학’이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Seo Kyungsik’s writing is a touchstone about why we should be concerned with diaspora literature, if a study on diaspora literature has an error, and how we should take right direction. The ‘ethics of criticism’ and ‘politics of memory’ which are intensely practiced for complete liberation from colonialism absorbed in his writing in general are necessary for concrete piece of future not for continual resentment to a wrongdoer tied to the past.
The self consciousness for Seo Kyungsik’s Choseon residents in Japan has closely related with his literary experiences. It is reading and writing. His narration of Choseon residents in Japan did not show suddenly his outstanding critical mind. Through his literary experiences, a problem of Choseon residents in Japan was not restricted to overcome a national discrimination of Japanese for Choseon residents in Japan in the inner society of Japan. The final purpose is to eradicate sources of imperialism and colonialism located in the depths of a problem of Choseon residents in Japan. It is closely related with his task for destroying a divided system on the Korean peninsula.
The specially notice thing in his writing is his critical mind for ‘nationalism (국민주의)’ distinguish from ‘statism(국가주의)’. An intellectual whom Seo Kyungsik criticizes and warns is a ‘pseudo critical intellectual’ subsumed by ‘nationalism’ he warns in particular.
In other words, his writing is to recall and reinterpret ‘history of the past’ into the context of the present time and in the dimension of renewal to a new horizon of history his writing is a struggle against ‘memory’ to deny and forget the whole things of the past. Besides his writing is ‘politics of memory’ practicing and planning these ‘a struggle of memory’.
