지적장애인의 성(性)에 대한 대학생의 인식 = A Study on Attitude of Undergraduate students towards Sexual Issues for People with Intellectual Disabilities

The purpose of this study was examine the relationship between social distance for people with intellectual disabilities, sexual meaning, attitude of sex, and attitude of sexual issues for people with intellectual disabilities. For this purpose, 248 undergraduate students in Gwangju and Chungnam participated in this study. Data were collected through questionnaire method from 4 kinds of questionnaire were used. The research questions were as follows: First, what are the characteristics of social distance for people with intellectual disabilities, sexual meaning, attitude of sex, and attitude of sexual issues for people with intellectual disabilities? Second, what are the characteristics of social distance for people with intellectual disabilities, sexual meaning, attitude of sex, and attitude of sexual issues for people with intellectual disabilities according to undergraduate student's gender, age, major? Third, what is the relationship like between social distance for people with intellectual disabilities, sexual meaning, attitude of sex, and attitude of sexual issues for people with intellectual disabilities? The results of the study were as follows: First, a subjects agreed on sexual development of people with intellectual disabilities, but they had negative attitudes toward exhibition of their marriage, childbirth, and sexual behavior. Second, social distance were negatively correlated to their attitude of sexual issues for people with intellectual disabilities. Third, social distance for people with intellectual disabilities could be predicted their attitude of sexual issues for people with intellectual disabilities.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 지적장애인의 성(性)에 대한 대학생의 인식을 알아보기 위해 수행되었으며, 구체적인 연구 문제는 다음과 같다.: 첫째, 대학생의 지적장애인에 대한 사회적 거리감, 성 의미에 대한 인식, 일반적인 성적 태도, 지적장애인의 성에 대한 인식 특성은 어떠한가? 둘째, 대학생의 성별, 연령, 전공에 따라 사회적 거리감, 성 의미에 대한 인식, 일반적인 성적 태도, 지적장애인의 성에 대한 인식에 차이가 있는가? 셋째, 대학생의 사회적 거리감, 성 의미에 대한 인식, 일반적인 성적 태도에 의해 지적장애인의 성에 대한 인식을 예언할 수 있는가? 연구 대상은 광주광역시와 충청남도에 소재한 4년제 대학에 재학 중인 대학생 248명이며, 연구 대상 학생들이 사회적 거리감 척도, 성 의미 척도, 성 태도 척도, 지적장애인의 성에 대한 인식 질문지에 응답한 내용을 토대로 연구 문제별로 통계적인 경향성 및 특징을 분석하였다.
이 연구를 통해 도출된 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다.; 첫째, 지적장애인에 대한 사회적 거리감은 신체적인 거리감이 대인적인 거리감보다 크며, 성 의미에 대한 이해는 평가-친밀감-중요성 순으로 높다. 성에 대한 일반적인 태도는 허용적인 태도가 보수적 태도보다 우세하며, 지적장애인의 일반적인 성 문제보다는 임신, 출산, 성적 욕구에 대해 더 엄격하다. 둘째, 사회적 거리감, 성 의미, 성 태도, 지적장애인의 성에 대한 인식은 성별, 전공별로 차이가 있었지만, 연령별 차이는 없다. 셋째, 지적장애인의 성에 대한 인식에 영향을 미치는 요인은 사회적 거리감이며, 사회적 거리감 요인에 의해 지적장애인의 성에 대항 인식을 예언할 수 있다.
