This study empirically analyzes the factors influencing organizational innovation in science and technology research institutes. All science and technology research institutes can be influenced by the gender distribution of members and the operation of the work-family reconciliation policy in terms of organizational innovation. However, the degree of impact may differ depending on the characteristics of public and private institutions. This study differs from previous studies in that it focuses on the differences in institutional types. The analysis revealed that the work-family reconciliation policy through the establishment of workplace childcare centers increased organizational innovation. In the public sector, organizational innovation increases as the number of female managers increases, whereas in the private sector, the introduction of the female recruitment system has a positive effect on organizational innovation. Remote work evidently had a negative effect on organizational innovation in the public sector, but had a positive effect on organizational innovation in the private sector. Based on these results, it is necessary to review the female recruitment system and prepare a workfamily reconciliation policy suitable for institutional type and organizational characteristics to enhance organizational innovation.
