사회주의 체제 전환기, 문학작품에 나타난 북한 사회의 갈등 : 소설 『평양은 선언한다』를 중심으로 = Conflicts in North Korean Society in Literary Works during the transformation of the Socialist System : Focusing on Pyongyang Declares

국문 초록 (Abstract)

소설 『평양은 선언한다』는 북한의 다른 문학작품과 달리 사회주의 체제 전환 시기의 이념적 갈등 양상을 비교적 세세하게 다룬다. 본 연구는 소련과 동유럽의 사회주의 체제 전환 과정에서 일어난 북한 체제 내의 갈등 양상을 『평양은 선언한다』를 통해 추적하면서 이러한 정세변화에 대해 북한 체제가 어떻게 인식하고 있었던가, 어떤 메시지를 대내외에 전파하고자 했던가를 분석한다. 당시 북한에서는 핵심 계층과 인텔리 계층 내에서 소련의 ‘개편’과 관련한 이념적 갈등이 존재했으며, 당과 인민을 유리시킴으로써 사회주의 체제의 붕괴 원인이 된 관료주의와 부정부패 현상을 우려했다. 소련의 ‘개편’이 다원주의를 추구하여 체제를 붕괴시키는 길이라는 점을 폭로하고 관료주의에 대한 경고의 메시지를 전달한다. 소설은 이와 같은 적대적 혹은 비적대적 갈등을 사실적으로 다루면서도 이러한 갈등을 김정일의 영도력으로 극복하는 과정을 그려 다른 나라 사회주의 체제와의 차별성을 부각한다.

This article traces the conflicts within the North Korean regime that emerged during the collapse of socialist systems in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, as revealed in Pyongyang Declares. By examining these conflicts, the article analyzes how the North Korean regime perceived these political changes and what messages it intended to convey domestically and internationally. At that time, there were ideological conflicts within the core and the intellectual class in North Korea regarding the perestroika of the Soviet Union, which alienated the party from the people, and concerns were raised about the bureaucratic and corrupt practices that contributed to the collapse of the socialist system. The fact that the perestroika of the Soviet Union, in its pursuit of pluralism, was the path to systemic collapse is exposed and a warning message about the dangers of bureaucracy was conveyed. The novel realistically depicts both adversarial and non-adversarial conflicts and portrays how these conflicts are overcome through Kim Jong-il's leadership, highlighting the distinctiveness of the North Korean socialist system compared to other socialist regimes.
