The purpose of this study is to understand how teachers in a Christian school reconstruct the given government level curriculum. The study focused on finding the purpose and method of the curriculum reconstruction and factors supporting to do it. The study adopted a qualitative research method.
The study gave us the following conclusions. First, the teachers in a Christian school reconstruct their curriculum to integrate Christian value system. Second, the teachers in a Christian school adopted special methods to set up learning objectives, to select learning contents, and to organize learning activities required to achieve two different goals given from the government level curriculum implementation and the Christian school purposes. Third, the curriculum reconstruction by the teachers in a Christian school was not carried out by the direct application of the theoretical principles and processes for the curriculum development. It was the process of studying and solving problems by the teachers committed to seek better teaching and better curriculum. Fourth, the curriculum reconstruction by the teacher in a Christian school was influenced by the cultural and supporting factors formed in the Christian school as a learning community.
