소규모 전문박물관의 전시연출에 관한 연구 -선거박물관 건립계획을 중심으로- = The Study on the Exhibition Composition of Small Scale Specialized Museum -Focused on the Preliminary Planning of the Museum of Elections

In the past two decades, museums have seen rapid changes in terms of the application of information technology, which has been used to represent their collections in new ways. In recent years, the rapid growth of small scale specialized museum has become a serious concern for museum visitors and designers. A museum is a building or institution which houses and cares for a collection of artifacts and other objects of scientific, artistic, or historical importance and makes them available for public viewing through exhibits that may be permanent or temporary. New technologies are beginning to cause significant changes in the way museums perform their functions and in the way they are perceived by the public. The paradigm of museums shifts from artifact-centered to experience-centered. Museums have recently developed a strong interest in technology, as they are more than ever before in the orbit of cultural industries. They look at technology as a possible partner which can help archive a balance between culture and education as well as help them be more effective in conveying story and meaning.
This study explores the theory of preliminary planning for the Museum of Elections which will be built in next few years, and deals with preliminary studies such as the definition and function of a specialized museum, changes on museums according to the times, changes in the paradigms of museums, the meaning, characteristics, technology etc, in order to establish an understanding of small scale specialized museums and technologies such as interactive media.
